THE ODDITY TOKAJI FURMINT DRY 2012

Winter was quite cold and there was serious drought at the beginning of the year. Unfortunately rainfall tripled from the end of May to the end of July. We had plenty of rain during blossoming period therefore berry setting was far from perfect. June and July were very hot which, combined with plenty of rain, required a careful spraying programme by the vineyard managers to prevent rot. Hot weather continued in August but now with little or no rain. September started with very promising weather, fine and dry, and some light rain towards the end of the month ensured an excellent Furmint harvest for our dry wines, fully ripe grapes with excellent flavour profile, balance, crisp acidity and concentration.
