This lovely Indian summer developed high quality aszu berries in reasonable volume. First macerations are just ready to ferment but it is clear that these wines will have very complex character with long ageing potential. Mézes Mály terroir and the ripe fruit of the vintage. Gentle minerality, wet clay and apricot jam all feature on the nose. The palate is honeyed with ripe apricot, orange marmalade and dried camomile. The wine continues to evolve over several hours once poured.
MÉZES MÁLY – 1ST GROWTH TOKAJI ASZÚ 6 PUTTONYOS 2005
Winter was quite mild but very long and therefore budding was not as good as we expected before. Thereafter we had a terrible hail at the beginning of May when the village suffered a lot for the heavy flood which was generated by the 4-5 inches rainfall in an hour. Berries had concentrated aroma and nice, very clean, fruity flavour because of the hot autumn and low crop. Acidity which was sharp at the end of August smoothens. So structure of our wines is very promising.
