Sharing its microclimate with Nyulászó hill, Szt. Tamás is south facing and can be seen on the right hand side of the road entering Mád. The 22 parcels which form the company’s 11 ha holding are of the very highest quality. Classed a 1st growth in 1700’s, today Szt. Tamás is one of the most expensive vineyard hills in its commune. Soil: rich clay and very characteristic reddish minerals. 2015, with generally warm and dry conditions, was a very good vintage especially for Dry but also for Late Harvest Tokaji wines. Flowering and fruit set took place in perfect conditions, having warm, dry and sunny conditions, resulting in fewer bunches than normal. During summer, despite the drought conditions, the vines developed well, promising good quality and quantity. The drought conditions accentuated resulting in rainfall levels at the lowest since records began - in some parts of the region with 180 mm only. As a result, the challenge was to pick at the right time to maximise ripeness and fruit intensity while avoiding loss of acidity. Harvest for our dry styles was earlier than average, beginning on September 8th for Furmint in Mézes Mály vineyard, some two weeks sooner than usual and was extended to early October to maximise the conditions.

Powerful wine with volcanic structure, in the palate with good minerality, the wide palate is complemented by pleasant notes from the oak. Good acidity levels with fresh fruit flavours and a long mineral finish end. A real terroir wine.

Nice companion to barbecued white meats, even some more serious veal and pork dishes. Fits perfect the traditional Hungarian meat cuisine. Serving temperature at 11 – 13 °C.
