After harvesting the Furmint grapes, whole bunches were pressed and fermented in 300 litre Zemplén oak barrels. After fermentation the wine was matured for four months in oak. Our Szt. Tamás Furmint is a powerful wine, typically wellstructured and concentrated, elegance and grace combining with a firm backbone. Crisp acidity balances the ripe fruit and the barrel maturation adds discreet notes of spice. Long and intense, the wine accurately reflects its unique climate and soil.
Serve at a cool temperature with Asian food, barbecued white meats, veal and pork dishes.
SZENT TAMÁS – 1ST GROWTH TOKAJI FURMINT MAGNUM DRY 2015
Szt. Tamás is a celebrated First Growth vineyard sloping
southwest and overlooking the Royal Tokaji winery in Mád.
The soil is rich, red clay interspersed with indigo and purple
volcanic rocks on and below the surface.
2015, with generally warm and dry conditions, was a very
good vintage especially for dry, but also for late harvest
wines. Flowering and fruit set took place in perfect
conditions, having warm, dry and sunny conditions,
resulting in fewer bunches than normal. Harvest for our dry
styles was earlier than average, beginning of September
some two weeks sooner than usual and was extended to
early October to maximise the conditions.
