The different Muscat parcels were harvested between 9th and 15th of September. Bunches were destemmed, crushed and macerated several hours in the presses. After pressing we fermented the musts in stainless steel tanks around 17 °C, using our own yeasts culture. Until bottling we kept the wine in a full stainless steel tank to preserve the fresh fruitiness and the aromas of the wine. Delicate floral aroma with ripe but fresh pears and melon, typical of this variety as grown on Tokaji’s volcanic soils. On the palate it is dry and flavoursome with intense white peach and citrus fruit, a delicious crispness and zest, and a long refreshing finish. Excellent aperitif wine. Best accompanying fresh or cooked vegetables based dishes. Also pairs well some duck terrine. Service temperature: 9 – 11 °C.
ROYAL TOKAJI SÁRGAMUSKOTÁLY DRY 2015
2015, with generally warm and dry conditions, was a very good vintage especially for Dry but also for Late Harvest Tokaji wines. Flowering and fruit set took place in perfect conditions, having warm, dry and sunny conditions, resulting in fewer bunches than normal.
During summer, despite the drought conditions, the vines developed well, promising good quality and quantity. The drought conditions accentuated resulting in rainfall levels at the lowest since records began - in some parts of the region with 180 mm only.
As a result, the challenge was to pick at the right time to maximise ripeness and fruit intensity while avoiding loss of acidity.
Harvest for our dry styles was earlier than average, beginning on September 8th for Furmint in Mézes Mály vineyard, some two weeks sooner than usual and was extended to early October to maximise the conditions.
